Wood Miser/Logging Program

Wood Miser The wood miser was purchased in 1985 with funding from the Methodist Church of Switzerland. The original vision was to generate income to support retired pastors, but this goal was not achieved. In 2001, The North Katanga Annual Conference, under the leadership of Bishop Ntambo repaired the machine and started using the wood planks it produced as rafters in new parsonages, churches, schools, clinics and other buildings in the conference. Currently, the rates from the local electric company make use of the machine very expensive.

Wish List:
  • tractor for hauling trees
  • chainsaws
  • replacement of broken pieces of the sawing machine
  • transportation and communications equipment, since work happens deep in the forest
  • work/safety supplies (boots, worker’s jumpsuits, raincoats, helmets, face masks, work gloves, first-aid kit, sleeping mats and blankets, and tents)
Director: NGOY MALE POLYDOR

Advance Special Number for Sawmill Support: 14414A
