The
elders who do good work as leaders should be considered worthy of
double pay, especially those who work hard at preaching and teaching.
For the scripture says, "Do not muzzle and ox when you are using it to
thresh grain"... -1 Timothy 5:17-18

Pastors
in North Katanga are truly living by faith. With church members who
struggle to feed their own children, our pastors are practically
volunteers. We are working to give these servants of God the tools they
need to support themselves and their families. In addition to providing
a well-constructed parsonage, our vision is to give two bicycles, a
sewing machine, seeds, and gardening tools to every pastor in our
conference.

Bicycle Project:
North Katanga UMC dreams of providing a bicycle for every pastor and
pastor’s spouse. These bicycles are used for visitations, harvesting
farms, long journeys, business ventures, medical emergencies, and
village-to-village communication. During the war, bicycles were used to
transport countless families to safety.
Many bicycles have already been distributed, but there is need for
more—especially in the regions that suffered great losses during the
war.
Sewing Machines:
If each pastor’s family had a sewing machine and someone trained to use
it, they could repair old clothes, make new ones, and create a small
business to provide income for the family. About 200 sewing machines
have been distributed to pastors and schools thus far; thousands more
are needed.
