Let
anyone who is thirsty come to me- John 7:37b

Water is the
source of life. Without clean water, disease and death run rampant in
communities. Here in Congo, many women and children walk several miles
each day in search of even dirty water.
The North Katanga Conference is working to dig as many deep wells as
possible to address this need. We currently have five wells thanks to
the generosity of United Methodist churches in the USA. Obviously, we
have a long way to go.
The funding for one new well came from a young girl in Geneseo, NY, who
had a vision. Alysia Rebecca Graham knew God was telling her to bring
clean water to Africa. After months of collecting returnable cans and
bottles, setting out a loose change container, and adding baby-sitting
money she got the attention of her church family who then worked to
help her achieve her goal of $6,000. Once the money was sent to North
Katanga Annual Conference, the village of Katuba received a well,
making clean drinking water accessible to hundreds of families in the
area.
Your contributions toward wells would be an answer to prayer for those
women and children who must carry water for miles so their families can
drink, bathe, and cook with clean water.

obtain funding (from USDA and other large grant sources) for the
digging of wells in the region.
